Inspro: Transforming Food Waste with Black Soldier Flies

In this case study, Richard Small, Founder & CEO of Inspro, discusses how his company is revolutionizing food waste management through black soldier fly larvae. Based at Bank Farm in Ashford, Inspro was awarded a Business Sustainability Challenge grant from Growing Kent & Medway to research the benefits of black soldier fly frass (excrement) as a natural fertiliser, plant stimulant, and insect deterrent for leafy green vegetables.
The project involved working with a dozen Kent smallholders to demonstrate the commercial value of both the larvae as animal feed and the frass as a soil amendment. Find out more about Inspro on their website, and read more about our Business Sustainability Challenge winners here.
