East Netherlands Development Agency, Oost NL, visits Kent to explore opportunities to develop links with the Growing Kent & Medway cluster.
Growing Kent & Medway partners, Locate in Kent and NIAB EMR, recently hosted a delegation from Oost NL, the East Netherlands Development Agency. The visit took place thanks to a new cross-border agreement aimed at driving innovation in the food and drink sector on both sides of the North Sea.
Seeking to highlight the county’s flagship position in the sector, the visit included a tour of businesses that are making significant contributions to Kent and Medway’s reputation as one of the leading food and drink clusters in the UK.
The region is a centre of excellence for agricultural research and production, pioneering food science and future focused advanced manufacturing – this visit provided ample opportunity to discuss future collaboration and investment prospects.
It coincided with Food Matters Live, a major international industry event that took place on November 19 and 20 at the ExCeL, London, focused on food policy, sustainability and nutrition. Both Locate in Kent and Oost NL attended.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed by NIAB EMR, the fruit research centre at East Malling (Kent, UK), Locate in Kent and Oost NL, intends to foster greater international links to explore scientific studies both regionally and internationally. https://www.growingkentandmedway.com/kent-and-netherlands-forge-partnership/
